A woman was found dead inside the bedroom of a burning home in Live Oak overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Firefighters from Live Oak were called by a neighbor who saw smoke and flames pouring out of the house in the 300 block of Mountain Shadow.
When they arrived, a man told firefighters that a woman was in a bedroom...but he couldn't get to her due to the heavy smoke.
Fire crews from Schertz, Universal City, Windcrest and Converse converged on the home. Search and rescue teams made several attempts to enter the house, and finally were able to get inside, but the woman was already dead.
No word yet on the cause of the fire, which resulted in substantial damage to the house.
