Its time to Change Those Clocks Again!

Its time to change those clocks, and even though the time change Sunday, when we set the clocks back one hour, is the 'good time change' because we get more sleep Sunday morning, Dr. Kirsten Mahan, a circadian rhythm expert at U.T. Health Houston, News Radio 1200 WOAI's Megan Bishop reports.

She says our bodies have internal clocks that don't like to be messed with.

"A lot of people don't take advantage of that hour to recover from 'sleep debt' which is how we should be using it," she said.  "Instead we try to extend our social time."

She says when it comes time to change those clocks, the key is to 'listen to your body.'

"This time change puts our internal clock an hour out of phase with our social clock, and that can give you the feel of jet lag, like when you travel across time zones."

She says start setting the clock back on Saturday , so your body can get used to the time change gradually.

And then, next spring, we do it all again, when the time moves forward at the state of Daylight Saving Time, 2019.
