An elderly man in a wheelchair was killed overnight when he tried to cross Southwest Military in his wheelchair away from a marked crosswalk and was hit by two cars, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The first car knocked the man out of his wheelchair. The second ran over him.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say no charges will be filed, because the victim was away from a crosswalk in a darkened section of the highway, and there was no way they could have seen him until it was too late.
