O'Rourke Doubles Down on DWI Arrest--"The Police Report is Wrong"

Democratic Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke is doubling down on his denial that he tried to run away from the police following his DWI arrest in el Paso back in the nineties, telling the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin that the widely circulated police report showing he was apprehended trying to flee the scene is 'wrong,' News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

O'Rourke says the woman who was with him at the time can corroborate his claim that he did not try to flee from the police.  He didn't say why he has not attempted over the last twenty years to correct a report that indicates he may have committed a serious offense.

"I did not flee," O'Rourke told Texas Tribune Editor in Chief Evan Smith.  "The police report on this count is wrong."

The arrest has become a major issue on O'Rourke's challenge to Republican Senator Ted Cruz, as Cruz has repeatedly raised the police report claiming O'Rourke tried to flee the scene as evidence that he can't be trusted.

O'Rourke also told the Texas Tribune Festival that he 'believes in term limits, and vowed to serve no more than two terms in the  U.S. Senate if he is elected in November.

Also at the Texas Tribune Festival was House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, who called 'Bret Kavanaugh 'a hysterical man.'

She also did not rule out the possibility of trying to impeach Kavanaugh if he is confirmed by the Republican dominated Senate and if Democrats gain control of the House in November.

“If Judge Kavanaugh is not telling truth to congress or the FBI, he’s not fit to be on the Supreme Court or the court he’s on right now," she said.
