Taylor Ward snapped a scoreless tie with a two-run homer in the seventh inning as the Angels edged the Rangers 3-1 in Arlington. David Fletcher tacked on an RBI single for insurance to cap the frame. LA starter Matt Shoemaker pitched five scoreless innings in his first start in over five months. Taylor Cole got credit for his first big league win and Blake Parker his 14th save. Reliever Zac Curtis gave up all three runs while recording one out to take the loss for Texas. Joey Gallo prevented the shutout with a seventh-inning RBI double.
