San Antonio City Council dressed up in number 20 Manu Ginobili jerseys today as Mayor Ron NIrenberg declared this to be Manu Ginobili Day in San Antonio, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
"I'm thrilled to see all in the silver and black in the Council Chambers, and seeing the number twenty in so many jerseys as a testament of the love that this community has for Manu Ginobili," Nirenberg said.
Ginobili announced his retirement earlier this week after 16 seasons with the Spurs.
"MOre than his basketball skills, it's Manu's character, his grit, his tenacity, his sacrifice for the team, always putting the end goal over his career," Nirenberg said in his proclamation.
Several Spurs representatives and the Coyote were at Council Chambers for the event, but Ginobili was not there.
