Remembering John McCain

Arizona Senator John McCain is dead at  the age of 81.  The maverick Republican recently announced that he was  stopping medical treatment for an aggressive form of brain cancer.  He  began chemotherapy treatment in July 2017 and has been absent from  Washington since December.  He spent the remaining time at his ranch  near Sedona, Arizona.  McCain, known as a moderate conservative, was a  retired Navy captain and POW during the Vietnam War.  He was the  Republican nominee for President in 2008, losing to Barack Obama.

Cindy McCain tweeted, "My heart is broken. I am so lucky to have lived the adventure of loving this incredible man for 38 years. He passed the way he lived, on his own terms, surrounded by the people he loved, in the place he loved best."

President Trump tweeted, "My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!"

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey is  ordering all flags to be lowered following the death of Senator John McCain.  On Twitter, Ducey released a statement commending the legacy of  the 81-year-old calling him an American hero and saying he will never  be forgotten. Ducey said McCain fought for America everyday and brought  the country above partisanship.
