The City of San Antonio is seeking public input about what the public would like to see more, and less, of at its airport, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Aviation Department officials are staffing information booths through early September as part of the city’s Speak Up series of town halls. Syed Mehdi, head of the Aviation Department’s airport strategy team, says public input is crucial to the first part of a two-phase, long-term air port study.
Phase One, he says, involves analysis of citizen input and airport tenants. Phase Two will look at the facility’s long-term viability, including physical expansion and increase in services, as well as relocation if necessary.
“How will we fit, where will we fit, what should be the configuration, what will be the alternatives, will be in Phase Two,” Mehdi told News Radio 1200 WOAI at Thursday evening’s Speak Up event at Morgan’s Wonderland on San Antonio’s far North Side.
Local resident Pam Fosdick attended Thursday;s presentation. “I’m very happy to see the upgrades and updates that they’ve already made.” Fosdick said. “It’s already made it easier. especially in Terminal Two. I’ve noticed the difference there.
“But, you know, obviously there’s a whole bunch more traffic, and people flying,” Fosdick said.
Medhi said increasing the number of routes and non-stop flights to and from the Alamo City are respondents’ primary concern. The city’s Speak Up series runs through Sept. 1.
