Dodgers Avoid Astros Sweep

The Dodgers' two big trade deadline acquisitions helped them fend off a three-game sweep by beating the Astros 3-2 at Chavez Ravine.  Brian Dozier put Los Angeles  ahead with a first inning two-run double and Manny Machado piled up  three hits and two runs scored.  Walker Buehler earned the win with the  help of three-and-two-third scoreless innings from the bullpen.  Kenley  Jansen got he final three outs for his 31st save.  LA is tied with the  D'backs for first in the NL West.  Houston's George Springer led the  game off with a home run, but left hurting his left thumb trying to  steal second in the third frame.  Gerrit Cole gave up all three runs to  get tagged with the loss.  The 'Stros are four games ahead of the A's  atop the AL West.
