The Dodgers' two big trade deadline acquisitions helped them fend off a three-game sweep by beating the Astros 3-2 at Chavez Ravine. Brian Dozier put Los Angeles ahead with a first inning two-run double and Manny Machado piled up three hits and two runs scored. Walker Buehler earned the win with the help of three-and-two-third scoreless innings from the bullpen. Kenley Jansen got he final three outs for his 31st save. LA is tied with the D'backs for first in the NL West. Houston's George Springer led the game off with a home run, but left hurting his left thumb trying to steal second in the third frame. Gerrit Cole gave up all three runs to get tagged with the loss. The 'Stros are four games ahead of the A's atop the AL West.
