A San Antonio Police Officer is hospitalized with non life threatening injuries after he was hit by a car while doing traffic enforcement on Interstate 10 at Huebner Rd. today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Sgt. Michelle Ramos says at officer was in a car while another officer was writing a traffic ticket when a vehicle saw the flashing red lights and tried to stop.
She says that vehicle slammed into another car, which in turn hit the patrol car from behind.
"The patrol car that was hit, there was one office in that vehicle, and he has been transported to a nearby hospital," Ramos said.
She says this demonstrates the every day dangers of police work.
"Its very dangerous, and we encourage everybody to just slow down, and pay attention to what's going on."
She says a five year old child in the other civilian car that was hurt also had to be rushed to the hospital.
