San Antonio mayor invites Mexico president to border summit

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg has invited the president-elect of Mexico to Texas in the fall.

An invitation was extended to President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador for the U.S.-Mexico Border Mayor Summit.

The goal of the summit is to bring together shared economic opportunities between the U.S. and Mexico. Mayors will openly discuss ways to benefit the millions of people on both sides of the border.

The seventh annual summit will be in San Antonio from Sept. 20 through 22.

In a Tweet, Nirenberg said, "On behalf of the people of #SanAntonio we have invited the President-elect of Mexico @lopezobrador_ to attend the U.S.-Mexico Border Mayors Summit in September. Cooperation & collaboration are the most effective ways to improve our border communities. #diplomacy"
