Now that San Antonio has secured the 2025 NCAA Final Four, the hard work begins,.Mayor  Ron Nirenberg says the task at hand is to improve even more the venues  and attractions that convinced collegiate sports executives to award the  Alamo City the basketball series seven years out, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

"The  Alamo, the Riverwalk, the hotels, the downtown area, they're all  getting better than ever," the mayor tells News Radio 1200 WOAI.

Nirenberg  says much of the credit for earning the 2025 contest goes to local  citizens who voted for a range of capital improvements.

Jenny  Carnes, executive director of San Antonio's Local Organizing Committee,  says a major challenge will be how to keep enthusiasm running high for  an event still years away

."I  don't even know what to anticipate seven years down the road, just with  the evolution of social media and technology," Carnes says.

She says  organizers will count heavily on two local NCAA Division 1 institutions,  UTSA and UIW, to promote and fund-raise on behalf of the Final Four.

The NCAA site selection committee named both schools co-sponsors along  with the city.

Private donorship in anticipation of a successful Final Four bid already stands at $1 million.--------------
