Once again, a wrong way driver has caused a very serious accident on a local highway, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the driver of a Suburban somehow got onto the southbound lanes of I-35 heading north at the US 181 intersection near Elmendorf about 2:30 Sunday morning.
The SUV collided head on with a pickup that was traveling in the right lane.The wrong way driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the pickup had to be cut of the mangled wreckage of his truck, and he too is listed in critical condition.Police are doing tests to determine if the wrong way driver was intoxicated.
