An 18 wheeler loaded with mangoes skidded off the highway overnight, when the trucker misjudged the interchange at I-35 and Loop 1604 on the city's far southwest side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The big rig flipped over on the grassy median of the highway and split apart.
The 49 year old driver, who is from Canada, had to be cut out of the mangled wreckage of his cab. He is hospitalized in critical condition with major head and back injuries.
