H-E-B Begins Beer and Wine Home Delivery

H-E-B today announced that it is beginning beer and wine deliveries to San Antonio and over thirty cities around the state, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

H-E-B says the delivery will be free, although it expects the delivery person to be tipped. The grocery company's announcement comes just days after Amazon.com announced a similar delivery service in San Antonio, indicating the level of competitiveness today in the retail business.

H-E-B will offer the service in conjunction with Favor, an Austin based food delivery service it acquired earlier this year.

“The combination of H-E-B and Favor continues to be a win for Texans,” said Jag Bath, Favor CEO and H-E-B chief digital officer. “Delivering almost anything in under an hour is what Favor is built on, and now with H-E-B, we are excited to add the new category of beer and wine delivery to Favor’s on-demand platform.”

Bath said any beers and wines that are available in H-E-B stores will be available for delivery in the greater San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, and Houston areas.

The products will be sold under the same rules that cover selling beer and wine in the stores, meaning the delivery service will not be available before noon on Sundays.“

This new service truly delivers the best customer experience - a fast, convenient solution with the best selection at the everyday low price our customers expect,” said Martin Otto, H-E-B chief operating officer. “H-E-B and Favor joined forces to support and accelerate our collective growth throughout Texas, and this is only the beginning of what’s to come from our powerful partnership.”
