Arson investigators are on the scene of a fire that destroyed a home just east of downtown overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Firefighters say when they arrived at the home in the 500 block of Center Street, which is just north of Sunset Station, flames had enveloped the structure. Total damage is estimated at $30,000.
Police say the resident of the home was taken in 'to be evaluated for psychiatric reasons.' Officials didn't elaborate.
The City's Code Compliance office will investigate to determine if what's left of the home should be demolished.
