Justin Upton homered to back six shutout innings from Tyler Skaggs as the Angels edged the Rangers 3-1 in Anaheim. Skaggs struck out six as he evened up his record at 4-and-4. Justin Anderson posted his second save. Luis Valbuena had a two-run double for the Halos, who took two-of-three in the series. Nomar Mazara went deep for Texas, which finished 3-and-4 on its road trip to Seattle and Anaheim. Doug Fister yielded all three runs over six frames as he fell to 1-and-6.
