A student at Steele High School in Cibolo is facing misdemeanor charges of 'Terroristic Threat' after officials say he named his Wi-Fi- access point 'Steele High School Shooter," News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the oddly named 'hot spot' first popped up at Steele High School on Tuesday, and prompted an increased police presence.
Today, the Wi-Fi hot spot was turned on again, and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City IT officials managed to track it down.
The high school was locked down and the student who set up the 'hot spot' was located.
Police say he said the 'act was done as a joke,' but, not surprisingly, nobody's laughing.
The student was taken to the Guadalupe County Jail for booking.
School district officials say there was never any threat to the students or to the school.
