The conspiracy theorist who barged into the Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church in March and accused the parishioners who survived last November’s mass shooting of being ‘crisis actors’ will be cooling his heels in jail for a while longer, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Robert Ussery, who is known as ‘Side Thorn’ on conspiracy web sites, buys into a bizarre conspiracy theory that mass shootings, including Sandy Hook, Parkland, and Sutherland Springs, didn’t really happen, and are staged by the government as a front for stripping guns from American citizens.
In March, he and his girlfriend, who calls herself ‘Conspiracy Granny’ and told several people at the church, “The people will hang you for being a part of a hoax!’ The incident was captured on video, which went viral.
The feds were able to charge Ussery, 54, with being a felon in possession of a firearm, because he was convicted of car burglary back in the 1980s. A federal magistrate today declined to allow Ussery to be released on bond. The girlfriend was not charged.
