The Texas Mexico Border is Busy With Drug Smuggling Efforts

They've been busy at the border, with two major drug busts at the Brownsville Customs and Border Protection Station, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

A 46 year old woman from Waco, a U.S. citizen, was pulled over for a secondary check of her 2005 Chevy Trailblazer at the Brownsville Matamoros International Bridge.

A drug sniffing dog sniffed out $2 million worth of liquid meth, more than 100 pounds of the substance, hidden in the vehicle.

The CBP seized the drugs and the vehicle and turned the woman over to Homeland Security Investigations agents.   The CPB says Mexican drug smuggling cartels more and more are utilizing 'non traditional' smugglers, like the 46 year old female U.S. citizen, to get drugs past border inspectors.

In a separate case, a drug dog sniffed out $133,000 in heroin inside a 2005 Mazda being driven into the U.S. by a 31 year old male Mexican citizen.

He also lost his car and will be turned over to HSI agents for possible prosecution.
