A man was rushed to SAMMC in critical condition this morning when he was shot twice in the stomach in a room at a northeast side Motel Six, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
It happened at I-35 near Evans Road. The man was driven to a nearby convenience store where EMS were called.
Police say the man's wounds are life threatening.
The victim's ex girlfriend was in the motel room, and police say she claimed that the victim entered the room without her permission and attempted to sexually assault her.
Detectives are checking out her statements and no arrests have been made.
