Mom Will Not Face Charges in Shooting Death of Son

Police say a 62 year old woman will not face charges in connection with the shooting death of her son in her northwest side home overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.Police were called to the 7000 block of Valley Trails, which is off Tezel Road in the Northwest Crossing area on a report of gunfire.When they arrived, they found the 31 year old victim bleeding from a gunshot wound in the chest.  EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Detectives were told that the man had arrived at the home to visit earlier in the evening, and got into an argument with his sister.Police say the 31 year old man chased his sister up the stairs, kicked down the door to her room, and started beating her.T

he mother grabbed a gun and shot her son, appearenly in an effort to protect her daughter.Police say the incident has been ruled self defense.
