Police Report: H-E-B Gunman Had to be Injected with Ketamine to Calm Him

Police say a 31 year old man was out of control when he walked into a northwest side H-E-B store last nght and ended up shooting a security officer, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say Charles Mayah, 31, is charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Security Officer and is held on bond of $75,000.

A police report reveals that the security officer, Stuart Emmons, 62, tried to get Mayah out of the store after he walked into the store and attempted to enter the employees break room. Emmons tazed Mayah which did no good, and EMS eventually arrived and injected Mayah with the sedative Ketamine to calm him down.  

The incident began at the H-E-B at I-10 and Wurzbach when Mayah charged two security officers and stared attacking them. He was able to pull Emmons' service weapon out of its holder and he shot the man in the leg.

Emmons is listed in stable condition, and Mayah was also transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the scuffle.
