Astros Top Rangers On Opening Day

The World Series champion Houston Astros are off to a winning start.  George Springer homered on the third  pitch of the game as the Astros topped the Rangers 4-1 in the season opener at Globe Life Park.  Springer is the first  player in major league history to go deep on Opening Day in back-to-back  seasons.  Jake Marisnick added a solo shot in the fourth for Houston,  while Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa also plated a run each.  Justin  Verlander fired six shutout innings for the win.  Cole Hamels yielded  three runs in five-and-two-thirds frames to suffer the loss for Texas.   Elvis Andrus scored the Rangers' lone run on a wild pitch in the ninth.
