Sutherland Springs 'Truthers' Arrested

Wilson County Sheriffs investigators have filed charges against two people who told parishioners at Sutherland Springs Baptist Church that the shooting that took place at the church in November never happened, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Officials tell News Radio 1200 WOAI that Robert Ussery, 54, and Jody Mann, 56 are charged with terrorism.

A gunman opened fire during church services November 5, killing 26 people. The gunman later killed himself after being confronted by an armed citizen.

Ussery runs a conspiracy web site called Side Thorn, which claims that Sutherland Springs, Sandy Hook, Parkland, and other mass shootings never really happened, and were actually hoaxes carried out by the U.S. government in an effort to take away the guns of citizens. Officials say Mann is known on line as 'Conspiracy Granny.'

The pair even told Pastor Frank Pomeroy, whose own daughter was killed in the massacre, that his daughter didn't exist.

Started by the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012, fringe web sites have claimed that the victims of mas shootings are actually something called 'crisis actors,' and the theorists point to similarities in appearance between people mourning mass shootings as 'evidence' that these actors go from place to place across the country, staging shootings as part of a massive conspiracy.
