CANADA CHAOS: ‘Migrant Surge’ Hits Major Canadian Cities

Canadian authorities are struggling to get a grip on a massive “migrant surge” that hit major cities across the country in April, with new data showing nearly 3,000 people illegally entered the country in just one month.

According to the Wall Street Journal, roughly 2,600 migrants used “unofficial border crossings” to enter Canada in April 2018; passing freely into the nation and posing a major challenge to Canada’s pro-immigration policy for asylum seekers.

“It forces Canadians, who have always patted themselves on the back for being very open to immigration, very welcoming, to deal with the kinds of challenges Italy, Greece and others have been facing and to realize it’s not so easy,” one immigration expert told the WSJ.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made international headlines early last year when he said his country “will welcome” those “fleeing persecution” and “war” following President Trump’s initial executive order on new immigration restrictions.

“To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada” he tweeted.
