According to a recent poll released from the Economist/YouGov found that a large majority of Democrat voters would support Vice President Kamala Harris if President Biden decided to drop out of the race.
Currently, Vice President Harris has terrible approval rating which seems to drop as the weeks go by. The poll did show that 79% of Democrats would however still support her as the Democratic nominee for President if Biden withdrew from the nomination. Only a third of those polled believed that Harris would be more likely to win against former President Trump than if Biden were to remain the nominee.
Since Biden’s disastrous debate performance only a few short weeks ago, calls for the presumptive nominee to withdraw have grown with many Democrats in key positions calling for him to withdraw.
The poll also showed 51% of American’s believe Biden should drop out of the presidential race now and a new candidate put forth citing concerns of age and cognitive decline.
According to a poll from BlueLabs, Vice President Harris may actually perform worse than Biden in the presidential race against Trump and many Democrats are trying to push a completely new nominee.
Only 28% of Democrats polled believed Harris could win against Trump and 32% believed she would perform the same as Biden. 24% of Democrats believed Harris would lose.
Vice President Harris throughout her term has been very disliked and ranked very low in approval ratings with only 39% approving a whopping 51% disapproving.
Biden still remains committed to staying in the presidential race but admitted he would drop out only for medical reasons.
Could that be the upcoming excuse?
