In a compelling interview on "The Joe Pags Show," former Secret Service agent Ken Valentine provided an expert analysis of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump that occurred on Saturday, July 13. Valentine shared his insights on what went wrong and explained the protocols that should have been followed.
Valentine began by recounting the events from his perspective, emphasizing the critical role of the Secret Service in determining whether a scene is "all clear" for a dignitary's arrival. He discussed the known facts versus fiction, revealing that authorities were aware of a threat before the shots were fired. Reflecting on this, Valentine stated that, knowing what we know now, Trump probably should not have received the clearance to speak at the event. He stressed that the Secret Service must have been unaware of the specific threat, as it would have been unconscionable to allow Trump to proceed otherwise.
Having extensive experience from his career, Valentine explained how the Secret Service collaborates with local law enforcement, including early coordination, area scoping, and open communication. He confirmed that Secret Service agents have the authority to take necessary actions, including using lethal force, to protect their charge and the surrounding crowd.
Addressing concerns about the physical stature of some Secret Service agents, Valentine clarified that height is not as crucial as their ability to quickly secure the protectee.
Valentine shared anecdotes from his career, including a memorable experience on 9/11 when he was called into work despite being scheduled off. He recounted the tense moments in the White House when another flight was believed to be targeting the building. Valentine played a key role in the evacuation of the President and First Lady, only to later discover the flight was a fighter jet coming to their aid.
