Hurricane damage is often measured in terms of destroyed houses, cars, or boats. But for farmers, the damage to crops and fields can be just as severe.
Agricultural damage from Hurricane Ian could add up to more than $1.5 billion, according to a report from the University of Florida.
That would be a major hit for Florida, which sees about $8 billion in agricultural production per year.
Ian took place right at the beginning of harvest season for oranges, grapefruits, and other citrus crops - which could send grocery prices even higher.
