An effort to strip Disney World of its self-governing body could be costly to some Central Florida residents.
House lawmakers yesterday voted to dissolve the Reedy Creek Improvement District that has governed Disney World for over 50 years.
If this is signed into law by the state's Republican governor, Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph believes residents will be on the hook for Disney's one billion dollar bond debt.
He says the average homeowner could see a couple hundred dollars more in property taxes.
For large businesses, they could be looking at tens of thousands of dollars more in property taxes per year.
