The White House says Russian President Vladimir Putin is being misled by his advisers about the war in Ukraine.
Communications director Kate Bedingfield said Wednesday the White House has information that Putin felt misled by the Russian military, "which has resulted in persistent tension between Putin and his military leadership."
Bedingfield said they believe Putin is being misinformed about how badly the Russian military is performing and how the Russian economy is being hit by sanctions "because his senior advisors are too afraid to tell him the truth."
The Kremlin has not responded to the comments.
