Indiana's Governor is signing a bill into law that allows folks to carry a handgun without a permit.

The bill was passed by lawmakers two weeks ago. Under the new law signed by Republican Eric Holcomb, possession of a handgun is still illegal for those already banned from owning firearms.

Indiana State Police is still encouraging residents to apply for and maintain a firearms permit to help law enforcement.
