Ten Republican state attorneys general filed a joint lawsuit on Wednesday to stop the Biden administration's requirement that millions of U.S. health workers get vaccinated against COVID-19, saying it will worsen staff shortages.
President Joe Biden, a Democrat, said the mandate will be enforced starting January 4.
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said in a statement that this mandate on healthcare facilities will likely lead to some "particularly those in underserved, rural areas to close due to an inability to hire sufficient staff."
Providers that fail to comply with the mandate could lose access to Medicare and Medicaid funds.
