A federal judge is considering whether Texas can leave in place a law targeting abortion.
It's under fire from the Department of Justice which called it an extraordinary law, designed to outflank the federal government and violate the Constitution.
They're asking a federal judge for a temporary injunction. At a hearing in Austin, Texas, the State Attorney General's office argued the law is not a ban on abortions.
The judge is taking the arguments under consideration and promised to rule quickly.
