A Democratic abortion bill is headed to the Senate after passage by the House.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the final vote, which was 218-211.
The measure aims to protect a woman's access to abortion, banning states from imposing restrictions on abortion providers.
It's seen as a response to the controversial new law in Texas, which bans abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.
The Supreme Court declined to block implementation of the law in the Lone Star State. The House bill faces a rough road in the tightly-divided Senate.
All Republicans opposed the House bill.
