A group known as "Parents Advocating For Safe Schools" (PASS) has filed a lawsuit to force Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to impose a public school mask mandate.
A statement from an attorney for PASS says the "majority" of schools outside of the Twin Cities metro area do not have a mandatory mask policy in place.
Winona physician, Dr. Loucresie Rupert, who is among the group bringing the lawsuit, added, "We believe that mandatory masking is essential to the safety, health, and wellbeing of our children, as well as staff members at schools."
A spokesperson for Gov. Walz told the Star Tribune that the governor will always prioritize the health and safety of students, and they are currently reviewing the lawsuit.
