House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is slamming the Biden administration's execution of withdrawing troops and evacuees out of Afghanistan.
He urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to call Congress back into session now after the terrorist attack that killed 13 U.S. service members in Kabul.
He called Thursday's attack the "deadliest day for our military in more than a decade."
The California Republican wants Pelosi to bring the House chamber back from recess so lawmakers can vote on legislation that would prohibit withdrawing U.S. troops from Afghanistan until all remaining Americans are evacuated.
McCarthy called out President Biden for "dodging" important questions at the White House briefing. He also criticized Biden for saying he wasn't sure if our government gave the names of Americans to the Taliban.
McCarthy said after Thursday's attack, Biden lost the faith, trust, and confidence of the American public. McCarthy pleaded with Congress to come back into session and not leave behind fellow Americans in Afghanistan, saying it's a matter of acting quickly to save lives.
The Minority Leader says this is not the time for "Taliban dictated deadlines" -- it's the time for decisive leadership.
