The White House COVID response team is pulling out all the stops to encourage young people to get vaccinated.
Senior adviser Andy Slavitt told reporters a number of popular dating apps will take part in a pro-vaccination campaign aimed at young people. He said pandemic restrictions have been especially challenging for teens and young adults.
Speaking broadly, Slavitt insisted that getting vaccinated has "never been easier" across the U.S. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said new cases and deaths continue trending downward.
Dr. Walensky said it will take time for many fully vaccinated people to get used to life without masks. She noted that everyone is encouraged to move according to their own comfort level, likening it to dipping a toe in the water.
The CDC recently relaxed mask guidelines for fully vaccinated people. Dr. Anthony Fauci said it's understandable that some people may be afraid to set aside their masks.
Surgeon General Vivek Murthy again urged un-vaccinated people to get the shots as soon as possible. Dr. Murthy said it's still not time to take the foot off the gas pedal.
