Ohio is beefing up its incentives to get people vaccinated against COVID-19.
The new deal unveiled: $1 million cash payments, randomly doled out to five Ohio residents who have received at least one vaccine shot.
Another part of the plan: Ohioans between the ages of 12 and 17 will enter a separate lottery and five vaccinated teenagers will win full-ride scholarships to state universities in Ohio.
Governor Mike DeWine (R) wrote on Twitter, "I know that some may say, 'DeWine, you're crazy! This million-dollar drawing idea of yours is a waste of money.' But truly, the real waste at this point in the pandemic - when the vaccine is readily available to anyone who wants it - is a life lost to COVID-19."
