More than 4.2 million people have been given their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines so far, but health experts say they need to pick up the pace.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on Sunday, "No excuses -- we're not where we want to be, but hopefully we'll pick up some momentum."
The chief adviser for Operation Warp Speed said 17.5 million doses have been shipped around the U.S.
Meanwhile, the number of people being hospitalized with the coronavirus keeps going up. The COVID Tracking Project says there were over 125,000 Americans in the hospital as of yesterday. Over 23,000 of those hospitalized are in intensive care units.
Those numbers come as another 1400 deaths were reported yesterday. Johns Hopkins University says the death toll in the U.S. is now over 351,000.
