Moderna's coronavirus vaccine is getting a favorable review. Staff at the FDA said trial results and data about safety met the qualifications for the vaccine to get an emergency use authorization.
Moderna previously reported its vaccine was more than 94% effective. A meeting will be held later this week to talk about the vaccine before it can be given to the American people.
The news comes as another 400 hospitals across the country will get the COVID-19 vaccine from drug maker Pfizer today.
Nursing homes and long-term care facilities will start to see the vaccine later in the month starting on the 21st.
