Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says Congressional Democrats need to drop their "controversial outstanding demands" for the next coronavirus relief package.
Speaking on the Senate floor, the Kentucky Republican said all eyes in this country are waiting for the Senate to pass a significant, targeted COVID relief bill built on all the areas where a bipartisan consensus already exists.
McConnell said that includes more funding for the Paycheck Protection Program, coronavirus vaccine distribution and unemployment benefits that are set to expire.
McConnell said none of those issues should be contingent or held hostage over intergovernmental bailouts for blue states.
