The Minneapolis City Council will vote today on whether to shrink the city's police department following the death of George Floyd.
The plan called "Safety for All" would cut nearly eight-million dollars from the city police budget. The initiative is part of a movement to defund the police following Floyd's death while in police custody last May.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said it was "irresponsible" to reduce the size of the police force before enacting alternatives, and is threatening to use his veto.
