Celebration turned into unrest outside Staples Center last night as fans by the thousands celebrated the Lakers 17th NBA Championship.
Crowds started taking over Figueroa Street just moments after the final horn sounded and the Lakers posted a 106-93 win over the Miami Heat.
A strong presence of police in riot gear surrounded the area. At one point, some people started throwing rocks and bottles at police cruisers. Officers fired tear gas canisters to try and disperse the crowd.
Several businesses were damaged. LAPD tweeted that more than 70 have been arrested while more than half a dozen officers were injured.
