Trump Reverses Course On Relief Bill After Market Drops

President Trump

On Tuesday, President Trump said there would be no more negotiations on a coronavirus relief bill until after the election. But he quickly changed course when the announcement sent the stock market into a nosedive.

Now the President is calling on Congress to approve $25 billion in payroll assistance to airlines and $135 billion in PPE funding for small businesses. Trump also said he would sign a standalone bill for another round of $1,200 stimulus checks.

The White House has been pushing a $1.6 trillion relief bill, while House Democrats want $2.2 trillion. Trump accused Democrats of "not negotiating in good faith."
