Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer is refusing to meet with Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett.
Schumer tweeted that Republicans are pushing an "illegitimate process" and accused Barrett of aiming to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
The Supreme Court hears arguments on the landmark healthcare law shortly after the presidential election. Republicans are rushing to get Barrett confirmed before the election. President Trump nominated the conservative federal judge to replace liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Justice Ginsburg recently died after a long battle against cancer. Democrats argue that Ginsburg's replacement should be chosen by whoever wins the presidential election. Dems have accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of blatant hypocrisy since he prevented President Obama from filling a Supreme Court vacancy in 2016. McConnell argued that it should not happen during a presidential election year.
