California has moved one step closer to a bill that would offer reparations to African Americans.
On Saturday, the state Senate voted 3303 to create a nine-member reparations task force that will study and make a proposal by the year 2023.
In addition to money, a reparations bill could also include things like job training, college tuition, housing assistance, or other community-based programs.
Other states including Texas, New York and Vermont have launched similar studies in recent years.
