TikTok to Sue Trump Administration

TikTok

TikTok's next viral video may come from the courthouse as the popular app is planning to sue the U.S. government.

President Trump's administration is demanding that TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, divest it's U.S. assets and data by September 15th or bar U.S. companies from the app. The U.S. government has concerns that TikTok's data may be used by the Chinese government to spy on Americans.

TikTok said in a statement that the U.S. government didn't give "due process" to the company and the orders are just the Trump administration's way of "inserting itself into negotiations between private businesses."

TikTok plans to file the lawsuit on Monday, also alleging that the Trump administration ignored solid facts about the company before threatening a full ban. So far, no company has confirmed it will purchase ByteDance's U.S. assets. Microsoft and Oracle have expressed interest, according to Business Insider.
