The state of Michigan has agreed to pay over $600 million to Flint residents who were affected by the lead-tainted drinking water crisis.
The $600 million fund will allow victims to file for compensation, with NBC News reporting that 80% of the money will be devoted those who were under 18 when Flint was supplying residents with river water.
Officials long maintained that the water was safe, even when residents complained of its quality. 2015's Governor Rick Snyder would eventually acknowledge the problem after Virginia Tech researchers found abnormally high levels of lead in Flint's water.
